Jessica Aguilar V Cortney Casey: What will go down:

The once WSOF queen is still waiting for her premier UFC victory.
The featured prelim of UFC 211 this month, sees a hugely intriguing Women's Strawweight clash between Jessica Aguilar and American submission specialist Cortney Casey. A former WSOF Strawweight champ, 'JAG'Aguilar made her octagon bow against former title challenger Claudia Gadelha in an unfortunate decision loss at UFC 190, and is attempting to claim her first UFC victory against Casey. With two successful title defences against both Emi Fujino and Kalindra Faria, Aguilar was a force to be reckoned with, after securing an arm-triangle finish over Alida Gray to claim the title originally. Casey claimed her most recognisable victory back at UFC 202, with an impressive armbar win over Randa Markos, and was faced with stiff competition in her last contest, in the form of Brazilian aggressor Claudia Gadelha, who coincidentally handed Aguilar her octagon bow loss. Both women are predominantly grapplers, with BJJ brown-belts to both their names, so we may very well see a Jiu-Jitsu matchup rather than a striking showcase, but this is most certainly a pick em' matchup.

Jessica Aguilar via split decision.

Krzysztof Jotko V David Branch: What will go down:

A much more experienced and successful David Branch is back.
Former World Series of Fighting Middleweight and Light Heavyweight king David Branch will make his second UFC debut next week, as he takes on menacing Polish contender Krzysztof Jotko. Branch of course made the leap from WSOF back in mid February after a string of both Middleweight and Light Heavyweight title defences, but certainly hasn't been gifted a favourable opponent for his second stint in the promotion. At 27 years of age, Elblag born Jotko, holds a hugely impressive 19-1 professional record, dispatching both Thales Leites and Tamdan McCrory as of late, to occupy the
#9 position in the 185lbs rankings. Jotko isn't regarded as a hugely active finisher, going the distance 12 times in his career, despite his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt. The brown belt of Jotko presents nothing Branch hasn't witnessed before, as the New York native has defended successfully against fellow black belts Paulo Filho and Vinny Magalhães. The striking skills of Branch have only finished Yushin Okami notably, but with 8 wins by submission, Branch relies heavily on his grappling game. It remains to be seen whether Branch will stay at Middleweight if he proves successful against Jotko, but the Light Heavyweight might present an enticing prospect for the American.

Chas Skelly V Jason Knight: What will go down:

Exciting grappling matchup ahead of us at UFC 211.
Exciting Featherweight submission specialists Chas 'The Scrapper' Skelly and Jason 'The Kid' Knight matchup in the UFC 211 Prelims next week, as both men attempt to continue their impressive win streaks. 31 year-old Texas native Skelly, has only tasted defeat twice in his professional career, finishing 10 of his 17 wins by submission. Skelly is currently riding a 2 fight high, forcing the tap from both Maximo Blanco and Chris Gruetzemacher, while UFC 211 opponent Knight, earned a Performance of The Night bonus on his way to a head turning rear-naked choke victory over long time UFC fighter Alex Caceres. A former Atlas Fights Featherweight champ, Jason Knight's most significant loss came against Tatsuya Kawajiri, but at just 24 years of age, he most definitely has a bright future ahead of him in the UFC. Making his promotion debut in a loss to Mirsad Bektić back in 2014, Skelly's most notable career win came against former Legacy FC Featherweight king Daniel Pineda, twice beating the grappler. I think the younger Jason Knight steals a win next weekend particularly after his experience gaining W over Alex Caceres.

Eddie Alvarez V Dustin Poirier: What will go down:

This matchup has Fight of The Night written all over it.
What a matchup to headline the UFC 211 Prelims! A hugely defining and important Lightweight scrap takes place next weekend, as former division champ Eddie 'The Underground King' Alvarez returns to the octagon for the first time since his November drubbing to Conor McGregor, against impressive long time contender Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier. Alvarez of course headlined UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden at the end of last year, and was completely outclassed by Dublin born star McGregor as he lost his Lightweight championship at his first defence attempt. Louisiana boxer Poirier, has also faced 'The Notorious' one before, losing via knockout in the first round, before a return to 155lbs for 'The Diamond'  brought major success in the form of a four fight win streak, including stoppage wins over Yancy Medeiros and Bobby Green, before a stunning loss to Michael 'The Menace' Johnson sent the streak to the grave. Facing long time competitor Jim Miller at UFC 208, Poirier subsequently recovered with a dominating decision victory. A two time Bellator Lightweight title holder, Alvarez made the jump to the UFC in 2014, but lost a decision to 'Cowboy' Cerrone, before handing losses to Gilbert Melendez and Anthony Pettis earning him a title shot against Brazil's Rafael Dos Anjos. Not many in the MMA community gave the Philadelphia native a chance agaisnt RDA, but a first round blood and guts KO win seen him leave Las Vegas as the new 155lbs king. Heading into his premier title defence against then Featherweight champion Conor McGregor, Alvarez was seen as a huge obstacle for McGregor to overcome, but a questionably executed game plan seen Eddie knocked down 3 times in the first round, before eventually succumbing to a lethal combination in the second round. A hugely attractive matchup for both competitors as a rematch with McGregor becomes a distinct possibility with a win. A must for Eddie in this matchup is to implement a solid wrestling prowess and avoid the power and slick striking of Dustin Poirier.

Dustin Poirier via knockout.

Henry Cejudo V Sergio Pettis: What will go down:

Can 'The Messenger' deliver a firm reminder to the Flyweight division?
A former UFC Flyweight title challenger and Olympic wrestler, Henry 'The Messenger' Cejudo will look to bring an end to his disappointing two fight slide on Saturday when he opens the main card of UFC 211 against promising contender Sergio Pettis. With one of the best wrestling backgrounds in professional mixed-martial arts today, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist burst onto the UFC scene back in 2014, securing four consecutive decision wins, including a razor thin victory over grappler Jussier Formiga, Cejudo then faced P4P #1 Demetrious Johnson at UFC 197, losing via a comprehensive first round knockout as his stock took a knock. 'The Messenger' was then matched up against Joseph Benavidez, and was hugely unfortunate to find himself on the wrong end of the score cards at the fights conclusion. The brother of former UFC Lightweight champ Anthony Pettis, Sergio is on a completely separate spectrum in terms of form, riding a three fight high, most recently winning a decision over John Moraga to earn a shot at Cejudo. A second degree black belt in Taekwondo and with a purple belt in BJJ, Pettis is a well rounded fighter with both submission and knockout victories on his record. A victory for Cejudo would firmly reinstate him into title contention, while Pettis would not only secure his fourth win on the trot, but may set up an exciting title eliminator with Ray Borg for the young Milwaukee man. Ultimately, I believe Cejudo smothers the striking style of Pettis with clever pressure and takedowns, on his way to a comfortable decision victory.

Henry Cejudo via unanimous decision.

Frankie Edgar V Yair Rodríguez: What will go down:

A win for Edgar may see him face the victor between Aldo V Holloway.
A hugely important and exciting matchup for the future of the UFC Featherweight title picture takes place this weekend, as former Lightweight king Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar plays welcoming party to one of the most dynamic and unorthodox strikers in the UFC today, in the form of Mexican youngster Yair 'El Pantera' Rodríguez. Edgar appeared at UFC 205 last November, comfortablely out striking and wrestling Jeremy Stephens as he recovered from his UFC 200 loss to José Aldo. At just 24 years of age, Yair Rodríguez will most certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the immediate future, especially with his unpredictable and unprecedented striking ability, and his underrated grappling game. Former Lightweight and Welterweight champion B.J. Penn made his return to the octagon against Rodriguez and was completely outclassed throughout before being finished early in the second via a fantastic front kick, as 'El Pantera' moved to 10-1, and remained undefeated in the promotion. With a rock solid wrestling background, black belt BJJ experience under Ricardo Almeida and Renzo Gracie and boxing guided by Mark Henry, Edgar is one of the most well rounded contenders in the sport today. At 35 years of age, 'The Answer' has faced the best of the best in the form of the aforementioned B.J. Penn, José Aldo, Gray Maynard, Urijah Faber and current Bellator star Benson 'Smooth' Henderson in his storied career. A really interesting questioned posed by this matchup is whether or not Edgar can deal with the striking dynamics of Rodríguez, and if Rodríguez can dictate the pace and keep Edgar from turning this into a grappling and wrestling affair. Edgar presents too much experience for me but you never know when 'El Pantera' is in town.

Demian Maia V Jorge Masvidal: What will go down:

Can Demian Maia finally earn his overdue title tilt?
A stylistic matchup for the ages takes place in Texas this weekend, as expert grappler Demian Maia faces feared striker Jorge 'Gamebred' Masvidal, with the victor most likely facing reigning Welterweight king Tyron Woodley. Arguably the greatest pure Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in all of mixed-martial arts today, Demian Maia has seen a huge rise in his success since his move from 185lbs, finishing some of the best in the Welterweight division in the form of Rick Story, Matt Brown and Neil Magny, before making incredibly easy work of former interim champion Carlos 'The Natural Born Killer' Condit in their main event clash back in August last year, securing a rear-naked choke win just under two minutes into the premier round, avoiding any real damage in the process. The highlight reel win over Condit really cemented Maia as a top Welterweight challenger and in many people's eyes, earned him a second chance at UFC gold, although Stephen Thompson was twice preferred as the challenger to 'The Chosen One' facing him at both UFC 205 and just recently, a decision loss at UFC 209. Another man who has seen vast glory since his move in weight, is Jorge Masvidal. After a close decision loss to Al Iaquinta, 'Gamebred' finished Cezar Ferreira before losing to cream of the crop strikers Lorenz Larkin and Benson Henderson. Masvidal has since looked unstoppable, finishing Jake Ellenberger after a Ross Pearson win, and to many people's surprise, stopped the run of 'Cowboy' Cerrone with a huge second round KO. Masvidal presents a hugely stiff opponent for Maia, particularly with his boxing which is some of the best in the UFC today. If Maia can get Masvidal to the ground early on he is surely on his way to yet another stream rolling and submission victory, but the question remains, can the Brazilian deal with the striking of Masvidal, considering top strikers like Rory MacDonald, Nate Marquardt and Anderson Silva all caused him problems. For me, Masvidal clips Maia and similar to the Cerrone finish, scores a knockout win after a barrage.

Jorge Masvidal via knockout.

Joanna Jędrzejczyk V Jéssica Andrade: What will go down:

This image is becoming a formality for UFC fans.
Arguably the most dominant female mixed-martial artists to ever step onto the canvas attempt a phenomenal fifth successful title defence as Joanna Jędrzejczyk takes on Brazilian powerhouse Jéssica Andrade. The Polish favourite has established herself as one of the most iconic strikers in the UFC today, particularly with her sheer volume. Making her octagon debut back in 2014, Joanna defeated Juliana Lima before a close win over Cláudia Gadelha earned her a shot at Carla Esparza, whom she completely annihilated on her way to a second round KO win. Jedrzejczyk's dominance has been staggering ever since, defending against Jessica Penne, Bellator Flyweight Valérie Létourneau, the aforementioned Gadelha and then most recently at UFC 205, survived a late scare to decision compatriot Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Brazil's Jéssica 'Bate Estaca' Andrade presents Joanna's most difficult challenge to date, with her aggressive style and BJJ background and at just 25 years of age, is destined for championship gold at some stage in her career, and has so far been unstoppable since her move to Strawweight, finishing Jessica Penne, Joanne Calderwood and just at the beginning of February, overcame Invicta FC Strawweight queen Angela Hill. With 5 career losses to Joanna's perfect 13-0, Andrade can Ben accused of a reckless, 'shoot from the hip' striking style, but if she catches Jędrzejczyk, the Pole could find herself in a spot of bother. A huge advantage in this affair will certainly be the grappling prowess of Andrade, but I can see Jędrzejczyk displaying her signature striking clinic on her way to a dominant decision defence.

Stipe Miocic V Junior dos Santos II: What will go down:

Stipe Miocic and JDS run it back this weekend.
The baddest man on the plant will leave Dallas, Texas this weekend as the undisputed UFC Heavyweight championship is up for grabs as Stipe Miocic once again meets former champ Junior 'Cigano' dos Santos in a rematch of their incredible 2014 slugfest. Two of the most feared natural strikers in Heavyweight history, Miocic and dos Santos faced eachother back in December 2014, losing a razor thin decision to 'Cigano' in a true barn burner. After his close loss to Brazil's dos Santos, Stipe recovered to stop each of his last four opponents, including Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and in enemy territory in Brazil, claimed the title from fan favourite Fabrício Werdum. At UFC 203 Stipe made his first successful title defence against Alistair Overeem, despite an early first round scare, which seen Cleveland star Stipe dropped and subsequently fell into a syncing guillotine, before a ground and pound barrage rendered 'The Reem' unconscious, as the Ohio crowd entered a state of ecstasy. Regarded as one of the best natural boxers in MMA history, the former champ JDS has been in some incredible wars against the likes of Cain Velasquez, Mark Hunt and Saturday's opponent Miocic. With a punshing left uppercut and a massive over hand right, one shot from Junior could result in lights out for anyone on the planet, and with a BJJ black belt, dos Santos can more than handle himself on the canvas. It is hugely unlikely that this bout goes to the ground, with it's most likely conclusion resulting from a huge shot or a gruelling decision display. Miocic was tagged by Junior a couple of notable times in their opening bout, but with experienced gained from four successive stoppage wins and JDS' worrying inactivity since their opening bout, Miocic retains in my opinion.

UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference Recap:

A huge summer of fights await!
We are just one day out from the monumental UFC 211 card from Dallas, Texas, but first, big business awaits at the UFC Summer Kickoff Press Conference as Dana White promises that 'the summer of 2017 will be one of the biggest in UFC history'. With stars from UFC 212 through UFC 214 in attendance, fireworks and fight announcements are a certainty for this presser. With the earlier announcement of Gunnar Nelson's clash with Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Joanne Calderwood's meeting with Cynthia Calvillo, expect huge clashes to be confirmed from the UFC brass.

Before the event got underway, UFC Lightweight contender Kevin Lee took to Twitter to post a video of a backstage clash between UFC 214 headliners Daniel Cormier and long term rivals Jon 'Bones' Jones, as the UFC Light Heavyweight title rematch takes place this summer. Jon Anik got us underway for the presser, with stars like Amanda Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko, Chris Weidman, Kelvin Gastelum, Michael Johnson and the newly signed Justin Gaethje on display. The first question was posed to the retuning Jon Jones who was greeted with a mixed bag of boos and applause as he was questioned about his feelings toward the rematch and whether or not we would finally see a second bout with Cormier materialise. Jones told how his MMA career made 'a lot to me' and confirmed how both himself and Cormier almost came 'to blows behind the curtains'. Jones then told how 'DC' wasn't the actual champ and how Daniel had never beaten him, so in his mind the belt across from him was 'a piece of s

Jason Knight stops Chas Skelly in the final round:

Jason Knight's stock continues to soar!
Two established Featherweight grapplers met at UFC 211 in Texas, as hometown hero Chas Skelly took on fellow American Jason 'The Kid' Knight. With both on impressive winning steaks, only one would remain intact at the fights conclusion. Both men are very durable fighters, so with that being said, the finish is hugely unpredictable.

Referee Jacob Montavo got us started for the opening round Jason Knight stung Skelly with a lighting fast combination, followed by a good leg kick, before a shot from Skelly landed flushed. Skelly then utilised his superior wrestling to bring the bout to the mat. From the bottom, Knight was hugely active, almost securing a rare Omoplata finish, before scrambling. Knight was really displaying his incredible grappling as he used a Gogoplata to sweep Skelly, before losing a Kimura as both returned to the feet. Knight landed an important takedown of his own as the first round came to a close. Promising start for 'The Kid'.

The second round began with a oblique kick for Knight, who followed with a right hand over the top. Knight then caught a kick attempt from Skelly dropping him to the canvas, as he landed counter right after counter right. Knight was plodding forward landing each shot, before a feeble double leg was stuffed by 'The Kid'. A nasty cut opened up under the eye of Knight as both men traded shots at the buzzer.

Both men embraced at the beginning of the final round, Knight landing a similar right counter, this time dropping Skelly before some poor refereeing seen Skelly eat some unneeded shots. Big performance from Knight.

No contest as Alvarez lands illegal knees twice:

Unfortunate end to phenomenal second round.
A huge Lightweight scrap headlines the UFC 211 Prelims, as former division king Eddie Alvarez looks to recover from his loss to Conor McGregor, in a dangerous matchup against heavy hitter Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier. #3 ranked Alvarez took the 155lbs title from Rafael Dos Anjos in spectacular fashion before his most recent defeat, while Poirier recovered from a KO loss to Michael Johnson as he dominated Lightweight veteran Jim Miller. Alvarez must utilise his wrestling and not allow himself to get drawn into a striking affair with 'The Diamond' who can crack and end 'The Underground King{s}' night early on. Big implications for the victor, in this Fight Of The Night contender.

The opening of three scheduled rounds was sanctioned by long time referee Herb Dean, as both men threw early fronts to draw reactions in the usual feeling out process. Poirier landed with a good body kick as he pushed Alvarez backward. Both men then exchanged body shots with Poirier following with a solid straight left, drawing a frail takedown attempt from Eddie, easily defended by 'The Diamond'. Another left landed flush for Poirier as Eddie looked nervous. A decent right hand scored for Poirier as Eddie looked to respond. First round to 'The Diamond'.

Poirier looked extremely loose at the beginning of the second, as Alvarez threw fire with a right hand, and shot for a double leg at the fenced, but Dustin was so far successful in his defence. Claret was flowing out of the eye of Alvarez after Poirier almost starched him, as he survived and both men began swinging for the fences. Both men in big trouble. Big takedown landed for Alvarez, as he looked to secure a front face lock, and then controversially landed two huge illegal knee, as Herb Dean mistaken the new unified rules for the old rules pre 2017. Dean then declared that the fight was over with Poirier telling how 'it feels like something is pushing on my eye', suspecting a fractured orbital. Illegal knee results in a bizarre no contest.

David Branch secures drawn out decision win in UFC return:

A successful yet uneventful return for New York native Branch.
A second run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship begins tonight for David Branch as the former two-division WSOF champ takes on impressive polish youngster Krzysztof Jotko. Branch is a phenomenal grappler and with a huge experience advantage over Jotko, it will most certainly prove to be a huge factor in this exciting Middleweight clash.

Don Turnage played peacemaker for the bout tonight as both men engaged early on. Branch immediately looked to clinch against the fence, before Jotko landed a surprise takedown of his own. After a failed single leg attempt, Branch landed a decent knee in close. Not the most spectacular first round we've seen tonight.

The second round seen Jotko closing the distance early, but good head movement from Branch made it hard for him to find his target. Jotko once more elected to clinch up before landing a good spinning back-fist. Jotko was displaying some really positive movement sliding in and out of range well to give Branch something to consider. Superb explosive takedown scored for Branch, but the Pole was almost immediately back to his feet. Referee Turnage then questionably decided to break the action when Jotko raised his hands, before a bodylock produced a takedown for David Branch.

The third and final round could easily decide this bout with a closely contested battle so far. A positive sense of urgency from both men as they tried to land something solid, but Jotko was noticeably hesitant. Despite his corner's demands, Branch continued to clinch up with very little action on display in this final round. Another double leg proved successful for Branch, who so far didn't showcase any of his grappling prowess. A good uppercut stung Branch late on, as a chorus of boos rang around the American Airlines Centre. The judges were in for a difficult decision as David Branch proved successful on his second UFC debut with a split decision victory.

Frankie Edgar wins via doctor stoppage after ground and pound masterclass:

Frankie Edgar proves too much for 'El Pantera'.
Former Lightweight kingpin Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar is making one final push for UFC gold as he looks to earn a title shot against Mexico's incredible striker Yair 'El Pantera' Rodríguez. A win over UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn inserted Rodríguez into permanent spotlight but faces his most challenging test to date in the form of one of the most well rounded fighters in MMA history. Can Edgar utilise his wrestling, or will Rodríguez add 'The Answer' to his highlight reel?

This fascinating matchup got underway with a good combination from Frankie forcing the youngster to take a step back. A reverse elbow landed flush for Yair as Edgar moved forward eager for the takedown, and eventually got the Mexican down. Frankie is of course very active and dangerous on top, landing some good ground and pound from guard. Some really productive elbows were busting up Yair, with Edgar really exerting his experience. Edgar then stacked the guard and landed some big shots, opening up a gash on the face or 'El Pantera'. Dominant round for the legend Frankie Edgar.

The second round began with a spinning back from Rodriguez, before a wonderful throw from Edgar seen a successful takedown. Rodríguez quickly searched for a kneebar as Edgar so far survived. Yair gave up on the heel hook as Edgar smashed him with short elbows, before Edgar moved to guard after a failed back take. Frankie was just annihilating that massive cut under the eye of Yair, as the Mexican youngster survived. Another damaging round for Yair as the doctor took a much needed look at Rodríguez's eye. Yair told how he could still see out of his eye, as the doctor called the fight. Dominant display from Frankie Edgar, difficult loss for 'El Pantera' to take.

Demian Maia earns Tyron Woodley date with Masvidal decision:

Demian Maia to face Tyron Woodley for Welterweight crown.
Huge title implications await the winner of this Welterweight eliminator as the victor between grappler Demian Maia and striker Jorge Masvidal, will face reigning champion Tyron Woodley per UFC President Dana White. The greatest grappler to ever step foot in mixed martial arts, Brazil's Demian Maia presents arguably the most difficult path to UFC gold for 'Gamebred' Masvidal, but anything can happen. Maia is overdue a second UFC title opportunity, and a win over Jorge will finally award his that. Maia completely outclassed Carlos Condit last time out, with Jorge Masvidal finished 'Cowboy' Cerrone in comprehensive style in Denver in his most previous outing. What a matchup!

The first of three rounds seen an early takedown defence for Masvidal, but Maia hung onto the leg of the former Lightweight, but was immediately taken to the mat, before securing a standing body triangle, as he looked to set up a rear-naked choke victory. Masvidal was so far defending expertly, but was still carrying the weight of the Brazilian. Jorge executed a phenomenal reversal and dropped Maia from his back, and tagged Demian repeatedly. Excellent heart from Jorge who was exhausted on his stool.

The second round began with a stoppage as some loose tape wasn't cut from Masvidal's glove. Wonderful stuff from Masvidal seen a unsuccessful takedown attempt from Maia. Masvidal was lighting up the leg of Maia, as Maia shot over and over. Masvidal attempted a limp Anaconda choke, which Maia escaped with ease. Maia was looking to take the back of Jorge once more looked to survive. Masvidal once again survived as he dominated wrist control preventing that RNC.

The third and final round began with a blocked high kick from Jorge, and then a damaging inside leg kick against the knee of Maia. A solid kick to the body of Maia punished the Brazilian, as he threw Masvidal to the mat with a single leg transition. Masvidal once more so far defended the rear-naked choke successfully as the buzzer sounded for the end of the bout. It goes the distance, as the judges are left with a incredibly difficult decision to resolve. Masvidal landed considerably more strikes while Maia landed takedowns throughout. Demian Maia claims the split decision as Tyron Woodley awaits.

Joanna Jędrzejczyk remains Strawweight queen with phenomenal performance:

Absolute striking masterpiece from Joanna Jędrzejczyk.
The most dominant female in MMA today looks to not only retain that title, but also her UFC Women's Strawweight title, as Polish superstar Joanna Jędrzejczyk faces Brazilian powerhouse Jéssica 'Bate Estaca' Andrade in the co-main event of UFC 211. Both are phenomenal strikers but In entirely different ways. Joanna is a precise, patient and volume over power puncher while Andrade is an aggressive, all or nothing thrower who can shut out the lights of anyone if allowed a chance. A BJJ purple belt, earns Andrade the title of the most dangerous opponent Jędrzejczyk has faced to date, and could very well bring an end to her incredible title reign.

The opening of five scheduled rounds began with a leg kick for Joanna before Jéssica threw hands back at the Pole. A right hand over the top scored big for Andrade, forcing Jędrzejczyk back. A big takedown scored for Andrade, but Joanna recovered expertly to score from the clinch after standing back up. The Muay Thai base of Joanna was on display, constantly scoring with stiff leg kicks.

The second period began with more movement and leg kicks for Joanna, with technical striking the difference so far. Leg kicks were followed by well timed front kicks from the champ, who looked comfortable so far. A technical masterclass so far for Jędrzejczyk was handing her the second round aswell, before straight from Andrade tagged Joanna. A powerful jab was followed by a huge head kick for Jędrzejczyk as the round ended.

The third started with more striking from both, but it's clear to see that Jéssica needs to turn this into a dogfight, as kicks bruised the thigh and calf of Andrade. The main story of this bout so far was the damaging leg kicks and stiff jabs of Jędrzejczyk. Andrade was walking through the strikes so far, as she looked to land some hooks on the entry. Jędrzejczyk landed a similar high kick once more as the third drew to a close.

Andrade's leg was getting undeniably chewed up by Joanna, as the champ was on top form heading into the fourth. A massive right high kick landed flush for Jędrzejczyk as the Pole looked hugely dominant. Another straight and jab combination wobbled the head of Jéssica, as Joanna out struck the Brazilian. Andrade was noticeably frustrated with her lack of wrestling success, with Jędrzejczyk rising straight to her feet. End of the fourth, so far all Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

The fifth and final round began with glove touch from both before Joanna got straight down to business with jabs and leg kicks. Jędrzejczyk was looking as fresh in the final round and she did in the first, as her cardio and the rest of her game looked flawless. With just one minute remaining in the bout, Jęssica Andrade was still plodding forward absorbing shots, while searching for the KO shot, which eluded her as the fight concluded. Unbelievable performance from Joanna Jędrzejczyk as she completely outclassed Andrade on her way to a comfortable decision win and successful title defence.

Stipe Miocic remains Heavyweight king with thunderous right hook finish:

Euclid, Ohio star Stipe Miocic exacts redemption against JDS.
A Heavyweight title rematch between current king Stipe Miocic and former foe and division champ Junior 'Cigano' dos Santos brings an end to an incredible night of action in the main event of UFC 211. Back in 2014, Miocic and dos Santos went to war in an absolute barn burner with Junior walking away with a close decision win. Since that unfortunate loss, Eculid, Ohio favourite Miocic defeated Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski and Fabrício Werdum in Brazil to claim the crown, and successfully defended against Alistair Overeem to truly abolish the decision defeat from memory. Tonight, Miocic looks to gain redemption against boxing specialist dos Santos. The winner of this bout will rightfully earn the title of the baddest man on the planet, along with the most prestigious title in combat sports history. In my option, which ever powerhouse lands first and cleanest will claim the victory.

Referee Herb Dean was handed this massive assignment as the opening of five scheduled rounds got underway in this exciting rematch. Both men traded leg kicks early in the first minute, as Stipe missed with some heavy shots. Miocic then scored a good left hand, with dos Santos against the fence. An incredible right hand from Miocic slept Junior as the first real shot landed, and sent the UFC Heavyweight title back to Cleveland.

What's next for Joanna Jędrzejczyk:

What obstacle lies ahead of the greatest female MMA star of all time?
Another routine performance was on display at UFC 211 for Polish Strawweight champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk as she successfully defended her 115lbs title against Brazilian striker Jéssica Andrade. 'Bate Estaca' was labelled by many as the most dangerous challenge to Jędrzejczyk crown, but as with almost all of her opponents, the Olsztyn native displayed an ever expected striking clinch on her way to a dominant unanimous decision victory. Joanna implied a clever strategy of low kicks to the heavy lead leg of Andrade, slowing the forward progression of the Brazilian, and although many haematoma's graced the face of the Pole, Joanna landed some beautifully executed straight shots, and hidden high kicks, with Jéssica plodding forward. It could be argued that last Saturday's victory was the best we've so far seen from Jędrzejczyk and with the win subsequently leaving her one win away from tying Ronda Rousey's record for consecutive title defences, I look at who can try and prevent Joanna tying and beating that all important accomplishment.

Rose Namajunas opportunity: A rightful title challenger was established after Rose Namajunas brutalised Michelle Waterson back in April. A huge head kick in the second round from 'Thug' Rose dropped 'The Karate Hottie', before the BJJ brown belt sunk in a vicious rear-naked choke to solidify her top contender status, after her decision defeat at the hands of UFC 205 challenger Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Namajunas presents arguably the most daunting grappling that Joanna may face, submitting the aforementioned Waterson, Invicta FC Strawweight champ Angela Hill and rising star Paige VanZant. A black belt in both Karate and Taekwondo, Namajunas is more than adverse on the feet, but her most likely path to success would involve her grappling prowess.

Cláudia Gadelha V Karolina Kowalkiewicz winner: A distinct possibility would be for Joanna to face the winner of the UFC 212 co-main between former foe Cláudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Jędrzejczyk has of course faced both female strikers before, Gadelha twice, and before her most recent defence against Andrade, similarly out pointed Kowalkiewicz at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden. Gadelha has posed the most contentious moments for Joanna so far, losing a razor thin decision in their first bout, but was dismantled in the latter rounds by the Polish technician in their summer 2016 rematch. The winner should most definitely face the victor between a bout involving Jędrzejczyk and Namajunas.

Jump to Women's Flyweight division: After it was announced that the UFC would be implementing a new women's division in the form of a 125lbs weight class, speculation mounted regarding who would be challenge for the inaugural title, before it was then confirmed that the 26th season of The Ultimate Fighter would crown a premier champ. The first challenger to that newly placed crown should most certainly be Joanna Jędrzejczyk. The Pole has off course successfully competed five times at Flyweight, winning against Rosi Sexton in her most recent Flyweight contest, via KO against the French female. Joanna as Women's Flyweight champ would set up a hugely exciting cross promotion clash with Invicta FC Flyweight queen Jennifer Maia.

What's next for Stipe Miocic:

The fan favourite is right on the cusp of MMA immortality.
Arguably the greatest Heavyweight to grace the octagon scored a record tying second Heavyweight title defence at UFC 211 as Euclid, Ohio favourite Stipe Miocic defeated former foe and champ Junior 'Cigano' dos Santos, with a thunderous right hook first round stoppage, subsequently extending his unbeaten run to five, with five knockouts in each. Despite losing a hugely memorable and even contest against JDS back in 2014, Miocic returned in spectacular fashion, stopping New Zealander Mark Hunt before earning a crack at at Brazilian Fabrício Werdum with yet another highlight reel win over former UFC king Andrei Arlovski.

Travelling to hostile territory in the form of the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, the passionate hometown faithful expressed their hatred for the American opposition that night with Matt Brown baring the brunt of the fans. Despite the odds in the favour of 'Vai Cavalo', the experienced grappler rushed forward early in the first round leaving his chin exposed, which failed him at the first real test from Miocic, as the newly crowned Heavyweight king leap cageside in utter ecstasy. Stipe was then rewarded with a UFC 203 main event slot against the most decorated striker in MMA history in the form of former PRIDE, Strikeforce and DREAM demolisher, Alistair Overeem. This time Miocic was in his own back garden as the Quicken Loans Arena hosted the event. Despite a tentavite opening from 'The Reem' the Dutchman sprung with a stiff straight, dropping Stipe before leaping into a guillotine but couldn't force the tap from Miocic. Back to his feet after clearing the cobwebs, Overeem shot for a frail single leg, with Stipe avoiding and from a stacked guard, stopped Overeem with heavy ground and pound. So can Miocic be regarded as the G.O.A.T. of the Heavyweight divison? He's certainly on the cusp, but another record breaking title defence would solidify his greatness.

Cain Velasquez contest: I want this meeting more than any other in the Heavyweight divison right now! If Cain can prove his fitness, then what's stopping this meeting. Think of the booking, the former champ who's record's been tied, attempting to stop the breaking of such accomplishment. Last featuring at UFC 200, the fan favourite merked Travis 'Hapa' Browne in his octagon return before being pulled from his rematch with the aforementioned Werdum, after he was deemed unable to compete. Originally claiming the most prestigious title in combat sports from Brock Lesnar at UFC 121, 'Cardio' Cain lost to dos Santos in the pairs premier bout before recovering against Antônio Silva to earn a shot at JDS once more, this time sealing redemption with a unanimous decision win. Velasquez then defending against 'Bigfoot' Silva before completing his trilogy against JDS with a fifth round finish. Velasquez was then pitted against Fedor Emelianenko conqueror Werdum in Mexico. Reknowed for his incredible stamina, uncharacteristically, 'Cardio' Cain gassed in the third round and as he attempted a single leg, fell into a tight guillotine as wiley grappler Werdum claimed the undisputed crown. A true meeting for the ages with such a good back story to involve the fans.

Francis Ngannou meeting: Quite a dangerous contest that doesn't really justify a meeting of the minds isn't as unlikely as you may think. With the recent meteoric rise of 'The Predator' the UFC brass may look to solidify his star with a title tilt. One of the heaviest hitters in recent memory Cameroon born Ngannou, is currently unbeaten in the promotion, with his biggest success occurring against former champ Andrei Arlovski a top UFC Fight Night Denver, earning him the #5 ranking in the divison. With former foes Werdum and Overeem set to go to war for a third time at UFC 213, imagine a meeting between champion Ngannou and Overeem, a true passing of the striking torch. In my opinion Ngannou is an incredibly gifted puncher, but is simply a one dimensional challenger to Miocic's crown at this moment, with former Heavyweight contender Brendan Schaub comparing the youngster to 'Cheick Congo with braids', and if recent rumblings are to be believed, Velasquez may await 'The Predator.

Derrick Lewis V Mark Hunt winner: Probably the most unlikely option lying ahead of Miocic, would be a meeting against either top ten contenders Derrick 'The Black Beast' Lewis or a rematch against 'Super Samoan' Hunt. With both set to throw down on the 11th of June, expect an early result, most likely from knockout as  both men are undeniably two of the biggest of strikers currently on the roster today. #5 ranked Lewis survived a scare to stop Travis Browne last time out, while Hunt was empathetically finished by a trademark Overeem knee in his most recent octagon appearance. A potentially dangerous matchup with dangerous repercussions for Stipe.

Cody Garbrandt out of UFC 213 title defence against T.J. Dillashaw:

We may have wait a little bit longer for these two to clash heads.
UFC 213 has lost it's scintillating main event after current Bantamweight champ Cody 'No Love' Garbrandt confirmed how a recent back injury has forced him from his scheduled title defence against former Team Alpha Male teammate T.J. Dillashaw. Garbrandt travelled to Germany to have stem cell injections to deal with such injury per UFC President Dana White, and it's now believed that the treatment requires four weeks of rest and recovery before Garbrandt can compete once again. The highly exciting International Fight Week event takes place on the 8th of July, and Garbrandt confirmed via his Facebook page how 'No I'm not fighting on the 8th. This has been my dream to get to the top and I want to have longevity'.

Rumours began circulating late last week that the matchup between the bitter rivals was in jeopardy, when former divison champ Dillashaw, expressed his interest in facing Flyweight champ and pound-for-pound #1 Demetrious Johnson in an attempt to prevent 'Mighty Mouse' from breaking the consecutive title defence record. Both men are of course serving as the coaches for the 25th instalment of The Ultimate Fighter and with a vast amount of bad blood brewing between both, a contest in which both Garbrandt and Dillashaw are completely ready for, is the most favourable option for the MMA community.

UFC 213 takes place on the 8th of July, with Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko rematching for the Women's Bantamweight crown, while stars like, 'Cowboy' Cerrone' Robbie Lawler, Anthony Pettis, Fabrício Werdum and Alistair Overeem are all scheduled to appear on the hugely anticipated card.

Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker to compete for Interim Middleweight crown at UFC 213:

Big matchup added to UFC 213!
Top Middleweight challengers Yoel 'Soldier Of God' Romero and Robert Whittaker will co-headline UFC 213 for the Interim 185lbs championship. It was subsequently confirmed that the rematch between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko will main event the exciting card, after Cody Garbrandt was ruled out of his Bantamweight crown bout with long time foe T.J. Dillashaw through injury. Cuban wrestler Romero is in many's eyes the best Middleweight on the planet, and it is incredibly difficult to argue that, with his recent demolition of former king Chris Weidman, and is of course unbeaten in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

After surprisingly stopping BJJ superstar Ronaldo 'Jacaré' Souza with a massive knockout, Kiwi striker Robert 'The Reaper' Whittaker has witnessed a meteoric rise in his stature ever since, and now finds himself one win away from UFC gold. His shocking head kick win over 'Jacaré' extends his undefeated rise to a whopping 7, but with the stern Romero awaiting him, the Cuba Olympian will most certainly provide one of the biggest challenges of his career.

After the recent falling out of Michael Bisping's matchup with Georges St-Pierre, it was told by Dana White that Bisping would defend against Yoel Romero, but then the Manchester native explained how a niggling knee injury would prevent a defence. This Interim Middleweight crown will add to the Featherweight Interim title which is set to be trashed out at UFC 212, but will most definitely establish the next Middleweight challenger.

Alexander Gustafsson V Glover Teixeira: What will go down:

We may finally get that 'DC' or 'Bones rematch after all.
Two of the UFC's forgotten Light Heavyweight challengers meet in the main event of UFC Fight Night Stockholm, as hometown hero Alexander 'The Mauler' Gustafsson meets Brazilian striker Glover Teixeira with the victor almost certain to face either Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones for the 205lbs crown after UFC 214.

Arboga born Gustafsson has twice unsuccessfully competed for UFC gold, losing two incredibly close decisions to first Jon 'Bones' Jones, before a split decision defeat at the hands of Daniel 'DC' Cormier at UFC 192. With an impressive professional record of 17-4, 'The Mauler{s}' only other substantial losses occurred against the recently retired 'Rumble' Johnson, and current Bellator Light Heavyweight kingpin Phil Davis.

Long time UFC veteran Glover Teixeira on the otherhand is a wiley competitor with an incredible 12 appearances in the octagon, stopping the likes of former champs 'Rampage' Jackson, Rashad Evans and Knoxville native Ovince Saint Preux. Teixeira is the holder of 15 impressive KO wins, but is also a reknowed 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under 'The Pit' master Luigi Mondelli.

In the striking exchanges I'd certainly point to Gustafsson as the more creative and dynamic striker, especially with his reputable kicks but I'd equally favour Glover in any grappling exchanges between the two Light Heavyweight behemoths. Gustafsson needs a much better opening than his win over Jan Błachowicz, as with a competitor like Glover, he won't let you rag doll him in the latter rounds. I believe 'The Mauler' will cleverly out-point Teixeira throughout the night, utilising his kicking arsenal and his speed advantage on his way to a title shot earning decision win.

Alexander Gustafsson via unanimous decision.

Alexander Gustafsson stops Glover with fifth round barrage:

Alexander Gustafsson eyes third title siege after dominant win over Glover Teixeira.
Our main event of UFC Fight Night Stockholm seen a Light Heavyweight showdown between former title challengers Alexander Gustafsson and Brazil's Glover Teixeira, as both men look to secure yet another title tilt. Hometown favourite 'The Mauler' Gustafsson pushed both Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones the furthest in their respectable careers, while Curitiba native Teixeira lost a decision to 'Bones' Jones in his only UFC title bout. Keys for success for Alexander is his utilisation of kicks, movement and speed advantage, while avoiding a possible takedown from Glover, while Glover must look to land early and use his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu advantage if he is to pick up a huge career victory.

The opening of five scheduled rounds began with a missed spinning-back kick from the hometown hero, before a shot leg kick, and then an uppercut from Glover landed flush. A huge takedown scored for Teixeira, dropping Gustasson on his head. Some good movement made way for a straight right before a punishing uppercut struck the chin of Glover, who was chasing a running Gustafsson. A bad eye poke against Teixeira as Alexander moved toward the Brazilian, who then confirmed his willingness to continue. A short, quick uppercut landed clean for Gustafsson as he looked loose in the first couple of minutes of the opening five. Gustafsson was implying a similar tactic to Alistair Overeem at UFC 203, electing to run from Teixeira as he engaged.

The second round began with some decent jabs from Alexander, before he once more scored that sneaky uppercut. Glover was in big trouble after a massive combination from Gustafsson who swarmed to finish, but Glover survived and landed a good hook to the body of Gustafsson, before Glover pushed forward with pressure again forcing 'The Mauler' to run, as the round ended.

Glover Teixeira clipped Gus early in the third before the Swede landed his own shot dropping the Brazil native once again, before landing some close elbows from guard. Alexander from the fence did well to secure a good inside trip takedown. Back on the feet, Gus was reverting to that smashing uppercut, punishing Glover dearly. Another round for Gustafsson heading into the fourth.

A good body kick to the liver opened the round on a painful note for Teixeira, before the Brazil striker returned a shot of his own. A slashing elbow found it's mark for 'The Mauler' before both men engaged in a clinch by the fence. Gustafsson was popping a stiff and quick jab on the chin on Teixeira. A lethal combination once more landed for the very fluid Gustafsson but Glover continued to walk through.

The fifth and final round began with a dominant first minute for Gustafsson before a phenomenal three piece uppercut and right hook combination finally shut the lights out for Glover Teixeira in an incredible performance from 'The Mauler' Gustafsson.

Raphael Assunção V Marlon Moraes: What will go down:

The Muay Thai expert faces an experienced UFC welcoming party.
A big Bantamweight meeting takes place this weekend at UFC 212 in Brazil, as hometown favourites Raphael Assunção and spectacular striker Marlon Moraes headline the card's prelims. Both compatriots are regarded as two of the best 135lb players in the entire world, and with the classic grappler versus striker matchup a certainty, expect a game of chess to ensue.

Submission specialist Assunçåo has a vast knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, using his black belt status to submit the likes of Joe Lauzon and Vaughan Lee, while other noticeable victories over former division champ T.J. Dillashaw, Bryan Caraway, Jorge Masvidal and most recently Aljamian Sterling also find themselves nestled onto the Recife native's résumé.

Making his promotion bow this weekend, Marlon Moraes is unquestionably one of the most dangerous and highly regarded Muay Thai practitioners in all of mixed-martial arts today, with the Ricardo Almeida BJJ product a Black prajid in the striking art. 29 year-old Moraes was as dominant as they come in MMA during his time in the now defunct World Series of Fighting organisation, claiming the inaugural WSOF Bantamweight crown back in 2014, before defending the gold an incredible five times as part of in his unbeaten spell in the promotion. With vicious striking at both feet and hand, Moraes has stopped both top prospects Carson Beebe and Tyson Nam, after securing a decision win over the recently retired former WEC king Miguel Torres.

Expect Assunção to shoot for an early takedown or pull guard from the clinch  in an attempt to utilise his superior BJJ, while Moraes can strike from any angle, similarly to Edson Barboza, both men have finished contests via leg kick TKO. Raphael's main keys to success would see him avoid an aggressive striking style and clever use of the clinch, seeing him take the affair to the ground at all costs, while Moraes must display his famed footwork and striking prowess to overload the experienced Assunção, but I certainly don't envision any judge involvement in this one.

Marlon Moraes via knockout.

Jimi Manuwa meets Swiss striker Volkan Oezdemir at UFC 214:

Volkan Oezdemir granted Manuwa matchup.
An incredibly exciting Light Heavyweight title eliminator has been added to the already stellar UFC 214 card, as London powerhouse Jimi 'Posterboy' Manuwa meets recently born star Volkan Oezdemir. #3 ranked Manuwa is on a tear as of late in the 205lbs division, most recently viciously stopping Corey Anderson with one punch in their main event clash, after starching former Interim title challenger Ovince Saint Preux. Swiss striker Volkan Oezdemir just last weekend scored an impressive one punch KO against Misha Cirkunov after a promotion debut win against the aforementioned OSP, thus earning him a shot at the 'Posterboy'.

With a rematch between Daniel Cormier and the returning Jon Jones headlining the 214 card for the Light Heavyweight crown, the 205lbs roster seems to have really improved with top level competitors lying in wait to challenge whoever leaves Anaheim the title holder. Swede starlet Alexander Gustafsson also reasserted his dominance in Stockholm last weekend, displaying his phenomenal boxing prowess to score a triple uppercut followed by a right hook combination to stop the experienced Glover Teixeira in the final round of their main event contest. Veteran MMA legend Maurício 'Shogun' Rua has also witnessed a resurgence in his famed career, riding a three fight high with wins over Antônio Rogério Nogueira, Corey Anderson and Gian Villante, after two consecutive knockout losses set the former Brazilian champ back. A future proof plan for the divison would see either Manuwa or Oezdemir face Cormier or Jones, while Gustafsson lays in wait, particularly as he is admittedly reluctant to face close friend Jimi Manuwa once more.

Vitor Belfort V Nate Marquardt: What will go down:

Regardless of result, Vitor is one of the sports most feared strikers.
When the iconic Vitor Belfort was originally paired against Nate 'The Great' Marquardt at UFC 212 in his home country Brazil, 'The Phenom' announced that the Middleweight bout would be his last in mixed-martial arts competition. But in another shocking twist to the Belfort saga, the 40 year-old Rio native explained on UFC Tonight, how he feels that he has a few more fights left in him, and is reportedly interested in facing Chuck Liddell once again, with 'The Iceman' said to be flirting with the idea of a octagon return. Regardless of Belfort's uncertain frame of mind, it has been confirmed that the former UFC Light Heavyweight champ has one more fight on his current deal.

One of the most iconic and legendary strikers to ever step foot octagon, Vitor Belfort has faced some of sports fellow pioneers in his time, including the aforementioned Liddell, Randy Couture, Alistair Overeem, Kasuzhi Sakuraba, compatriot Wanderlei Silva and of course has faced Dan Henderson on three separate occasions. Despite two knockout losses against Ronaldo Souza and Gegard Mousasi and a no contsest against Kelvin Gastelum tarnishing the legacy of Belfort recently, 'The Phenom' is unquestionably one of the most influential and most recognised stars in MMA past or present.

A former Strikeforce Welterweight king, Nate Marquardt is indeed no push over for Belfort in what still could be his final fight, but it is definitely the right matchup to make for both men at this stage in their seasoned careers. Welcoming back Tamdan McCrory recently, Marquardt displayed his ferocious striking ability, following a beautiful shot with a head kick finish over 'The Barn Cat. Last time though, Marquardt was convincingly dispatched by up and coming Middleweight Sam Alvey. Marquardt has faced some incredibly high level competitors in his time also, with wins over current Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, the next in line for a title shot Demian Maia, former WSOF Welterweight divison king Rousimar Palhares, and even stepped into the octagon with the G.O.A.T. Anderson Silva, in a decision loss.

Both men are definite knockout artists, with Belfort's legendary swarm and hands evidence enough, but a withered chin may leave Marquardt the surprise favourite heading into this exchange.

Cláudia Gadelha V Karolina Kowalkiewicz: What will go down:

Which top contender claims victory in this international matchup?
Two of the greatest Strawweights on the planet feature in the co-main event of UFC 212 in Brazil, as aggressive hometown hero Cláudia Gadelha faces Pole striking sensation Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Both top challengers have faced undisputed queen Joanna Jędrzejczyk three times between them with a record of 0-3 against the Olsztyn native. Mossoró born Gadelha, was incredibly unfortunate to lose a razor thin decision to Joanna in their premier bout, but second time around, The Ultimate Fighter coaches clashed, with Joanna's accurate striking and conditioning proving the difference between the pair. Elsewhere at UFC 205 in Madison Square Garden, it was an all Polish title fight as Jędrzejczyk successfully defended against former foe Kowalkiewicz, despite a late scare.

It is unquestionable that both women are the next best in the 115lbs divison, with Gadelha's and Karolina's only losses coming against Joanna. Cláudia recovered in impressive style last time out, convincingly dispatching Cortney 'Cast Iron' Casey to set up this potential title eliminator. Gadelha is a nasty volume striker but her base goes all the way back to Nova Uniao, gaining her BJJ black belt from legendary coach André Pederneiras. That extensive grappling background has resulted in 6 career submission wins for the 28 year-old.

Łódź star Kowalkiewicz's lineage dates back to her precise Muay Thai and Kickboxing training. A three fight UFC veteran, the 'Polish Princess' was a Flyweight champion in the promotion KSW, successfully defending once against former Invicta FC Strawweight Jasminka Cive. With the recent establishment of the Women's Flyweight divison in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, I believe Karolina could easily have incredible success in her old stomping ground.

The main keys for success for Gadelha is to get in close and make use of jabs and other volume strikes, and to make this a Jiu-Jitsu matchup against the predominantly striking Karolina, while Kowalkiewicz may look to the blueprint she executed against 'Thug' Rose Namajunas on her way to that split decision victory to find success.

Cláudia Gadelha via submission.

José Aldo V Max Holloway: What will go down:

Can Max Holloway reach the mountain?
The main event of UFC 212 sees an incredible matchup for the undisputed Featherweight title as José Aldo defends against Hawaii favourite and Interim champ Max 'Blessed' Holloway. Aldo recovered from his devastating December 2015 loss against Conor McGregor to reclaim the Interim crown from former for Frankie Edgar at UFC 200, before being promoted to the undisputed champion due to McGregor's inactivity in the divison, while Holloway compiled a 10 fight win streak including a knockout win over Anthony Pettis to claim the 145lbs Interim belt. A win for either man this weekend may set up a mouth watering rematch against current Lightweight king Conor McGregor, something that will most certainly be on the minds of both competitors heading to the octagon.

Aldo is arguably the greatest Featherweight to ever step foot into the sport and with a one of the best Muay Thai backgrounds in the game, the Manaus mauler is most certainly a phenomenal knockout artist. With ridiculous takedown defence, José Aldo is the true definition of a rounded fighter, with a BJJ black belt under reknowed trainer André Pederneiras in tow. Similar to compatriot Edson Barboza, Aldo possesses some of the nastiest leg kicks in the game past or present, and expect them to play a huge role in the tide of this bout. With multiple wins over Chad Mendes and Frankie 'The Answer' Edgar, Aldo holds the record for consecutive Featherweight title defences standing at an astonishing 7, but his 13 second downfall at the left hand of 'The Notorious' one threatens to tarnish the 30 year-old's legacy in the sport.

Opponent Max Holloway has faced some of the biggest killers at 145lbs and has passed with flying colours each time. Submitting Cub Swanson in spectacular fashion, decisioning the dangerous Jeremy Stephens and grappler Ricardo Lamas, and becoming the first man to finish 'Showtime' be that a shrunken 'Showtime'. A boxer at heart, the still fresh 25 year-old Holloway has a definite future in the sport regardless of result this weekend, and with a 10 fight meteoric rise, it's incredibly difficulty to go against 'Blessed'. Holloway in most certainly no slouch when it comes to grappling, but it will a tall order to utilise that BJJ purple belt with Aldo's Luta Livre or catch wrestling black belt under UFC 7 star Marco Ruas.

Aldo must implement a similar striking tactic displayed in his UFC 200 appearance against Frankie Edgar and avoid the striking exchanges evident in his Chad Mendes rematch. Aldo didn't utilise enough of his leg kicks against Edgar that I would have liked, but if he manages the same amount as he did against Urijah Faber, the movement of Holloway will be immobilised dearly. On the otherhand, Holloway can rely on his fantastic conditioning thoughout this bout. Holloway reached in a great deal with almost an oblique kick to close the distance against Pettis, so he must be cautious of the counter strikes of Aldo, which he used so precisely against Edgar in their second meeting.

José Aldo via split decision.

Raphael Assunção denies Moraes UFC debut success:

Huge win for the ever improving Assunção.
The featured bout of the UFC 212 Prelims, sees the promotional debut of former WSOF dominator Marlon Moraes, as he takes on fellow Brazilian and top ranked Bantamweight contender Raphael Assunção. A classic grappler versus striker matchup is sure to be on display, as the outlook of the 135lbs divison looks hugely intriguing regardless of result. Certainly a bearth of fire for 'Magic' Moraes against #3 Assunção.

Referee Osiris Maia was the third man in the octagon for this one as Moraes opened with a traditional Muay Thai leg kick at the beginning of the first round. Assunção fired back with a decent right hand, countering his compatriot before the latter scored a right of his own. A shot to the groin halted the action, as Moraes was using many feints to draw a reaction from Assunção. A tame double leg was easily stuffed by Moraes as Assunção looked for his BJJ early on here. Moraes tried and failed with an ambitious tornado kick before Assunção cracked with a solid right hand as the round ended. Close first five minutes.

The second round got underway with a close right uppercut from Moraes as Assunção pushed the pace early on. Moraes landed a clean straight as Assunção moved forward, before shooting Assunção to the body. Both men very tentative but accurate as we move into the latter stages of the second round. Good movement from Moraes opened up a chance for a wheel kick which ultimately missed, before landing a good counter left hand. Even closer second round.

The third and final round here in Brazil began with some more leg kicks from Moraes, really digging into the first, before a counter right hook momentarily dropped Moraes who was up straight after. Moraes was reaching at thin air with just two minutes of the final round gone, unable to utilise his footwork so far. A switch left kick to the body landed flush for 'Magic' Moraes as he began to look comfortable in the last couple of minutes. Marlon looked for an important single leg, but incredible takedown defence on display from Assunção prevented it, before a solid spinning kick scored for Moraes. A late flurry from Moraes looked to sway the judges as we go the distance. Competitive bout with Assunção proving successful with a split decision win.
