Anthony Pettis is back on track! |
Herb Dean was our man in the middle for this one, as Jim Miller opened with a inside leg kick, knocking Pettis off balance early. Miller went back to that inside leg kick, which was noticeably causing 'Showtime' some concern. Both men then traded kicks to the body, before Pettis caught Miller with a knee, stumbling the New Jersey veteran. A switch kick to the body again stung the body of Miller as Pettis looked confident and loose so far. Good round, Pettis pushing the pace so far.
The second round began with some good shots for Pettis, before Miller seized on a loose kick from Pettis to stack the guard and lay down some shots as he defended a triangle expertly. Pettis rolled and gave up his back to the BJJ expert Miller, before Pettis scrambled out and escaped. Pettis passed to half guard, smashing some elbows to the face of Miller, which was covered in claret at this stage. In side control, Pettis eventually moved to the back, allowing Miller back to his feet before a beautiful trip from the Milwaukee native, guided Miller back to the mat. Another round to Pettis.
The third and final round seen Miller once more revert to that damaging leg kick, which were so far unchecked by 'Showtime'. A front kick landed high for Pettis, who was really displaying his dynamic striking arsenal. Both men then clinched at the cage. Pettis then tried a cartwheel kick with seconds remaining, before a jumping roundhouse landed for 'Showtime'. Third round for Pettis.
